Blogging is one of the best ways to add content and drive traffic to your site. But if you’re new to the art of blogging, you might have some questions. Many new business bloggers wonder exactly how to promote their brand new business blogs. Promoting a new blog isn’t as complicated as it may seem.

First Steps

There are a few things you should do before you start promoting your blog. The first is that you need to be sure that all the existing content is accurate and relevant. You should also check the spelling and grammar. You’ll need to check that any links in the content are working. Make sure to check both internal links and external links.

You should also make sure that your information is visible on the site. Pay attention to things like the address and the contact information. It can help to have all your details on a business card that you can upload directly onto your site.

Promoting Your Blog

There are a few ways to promote your blog, but these tips have been tried, tested, and proven to work.

Social Media

Always share your posts on your social media sites. Facebook, Twitter, and Linkedin are incredibly important, but don’t forget about other platforms as well. Use Instagram, Pinterest, Reddit, and Tumblr as well. Platforms like Instagram are often forgotten about, as it’s not possible to share a blog in the same way as you would on Facebook or Twitter. Instead, make sure that there’s a link to your blog post in your bio; share an amazing image or graphic and caption it, directing your followers to the link.

You should also share your posts more than once. Share them as soon as you publish them. Share the next day again using a different headline and caption. Share three days later, then a week later, and then two weeks later.

Email Newsletters

You should set up email campaigns to let your email list know when you have published a new blog post. Constant Contact has done some research on when the best time to send out email campaigns. Blog post emails seem to get more engagement when they’re sent on weekdays, with Tuesdays and Thursdays performing slightly better than the other weekdays. They should be sent at 10 am in your own time zone.

Plain text emails seem to perform better than overly HTML enhanced emails. You should make sure that you include a shareable link so your email subscribers can share your post to their own social media profiles.

Showcase Your Knowledge

If you can show that you’re an expert in your industry, people will be much more likely to read your blog. Look for answer forums where you can answer other user’s questions, and promote your blog posts simultaneously. Set aside time every day to go on sites like Quora and Reddit and show your knowledge.

Answer questions, but also look for questions that your blog post answers. You can direct users to your blog for more information or a fuller explanation.

Guest Posting

Guest posting can also drive people to your blog. It’s another way of showcasing your knowledge and setting yourself out as an expert. It also lets you promote your own blog either in the writer’s bio or as a link in the post’s main content.

Guesting posting is extremely effective, but it can be time-consuming. You need to research high-authority blogs within your niche and reach out with pitches. You also then need to write a high-quality post. All of this can take a lot of time, but it is worth it.
